Brand Voice & Storytelling

Brand Voice & Storytelling

I help brands big and small find their voice and tell their story.

Because that’s how they truly come to life.

What’s your story?

Let’s tell the world!

Services

Here are some examples of what I can do for you, depending on where you're at with your brand right now.

  • Brand Voice Workshop

We'll define the essence and values of your brand today. Building on this foundation, we'll then derive further strategies and define your brand voice.

    What I'll bring

As a brand manager and copywriter, I've shaped and help develop komoot's brand voice. I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge (and, frankly, deep-dive into brands that I don't yet know by heart).

    What we’ll do

    • Look at your brand history, past strategies & campaigns
    • Define where your brand is at today and what it stands for
    • Derive your brand voice
    • Create a brand voice booklet, including reasoning and examples
    • Look at possible next steps

    3-5 days, fixed price

  • Content Foundations

This is where we take your brand voice and strategy and translate it into a content roadmap, define processes and channels and come up with the first sample pieces.

    What I'll bring

In my 10+ years of experience in content creation and content management as an editor, managing editor, and editor-in-chief, I've learned a thing or two about storytelling that I'll be happy to share with you.

    What we’ll do

    • Define content objectives & strategy
    • Create content roadmap
    • Create channels that look like your brand*
    • Build processes

*We'll work with creative professionals from my network to make sure your brand is represented correctly and speaks one language across all channels.

    1-3 days, fixed price

  • Brand Campaigns

Based on your content strategy, we'll create campaigns tailored to your brand and audience and work with other creatives to make them come to life.

    What I'll bring

A great campaign takes careful planning and execution, which is where my 10+ years of experience in copy, concepting and campaign management come in. I'll help you develop an objective and key metrics, find the right creatives (happy to share my network), manage the creative process and make sure it all comes together at the right time.

    What we’ll do

    • Define your objective & key metrics
    • Create multiple creative concepts
    • Fine tune best concept
    • Project management tailored to your campaign
    • Hire & manage creatives

    1 - 3 days, hourly rate

  • Copy Direction [DE]

I'll give your translated or machine-written texts a natural, brand-led feel in German. Today, the standard experience for German native speakers on the internetz is machine-translated (correct, but weird sounding) copy that misses the original intention. Or it's machine-written and so clean and correct, it's missing the human touch.

    What I'll bring

With 10+ years of experience as creative director of German copy overseeing freelance translators and projects, I'll help you build trust and make cliensts feel included. Because language is a simple but incredibly powerful tool that can make the difference between anonymous information transmission – and making people smile and feel seen in front of a screen.

    What we’ll do

    • Define the original objective, message and tone of your marketing or UI copy
    • Creative translation to German with a natural native feel

    From 1h, hourly rate

FAQs

  • What’s it like to work with you?

Easy, I hope. :) I'm a hands-on, easy-to-talk-to kind of person, who likes to plot out deadlines, objectives and other things to consider before I get to work. I communicate clearly and openly (German directness, hi 👋🏻) and once commited, I stick to projects and agreements.
  • What kind of projects do you take on?

Anything related to brand voice and storytelling, copywriting if it's German copy. If you're unsure whether I'm the right creative, just send me a message and we'll figure it out together.
  • How do you fit into existing teams?

I'm plug-and-play. I've been told that I'm particularly good at recognizing patterns and processes. I'm also a fan of over-communication and dedicated to making everyone feel seen and heard.

  • Which tools do you use?

As a millenial who has worked online all their career, I'm quick at familiarizing myself with any new software a team uses. When I can chose, I'm a fan of simple tools that do the job well, some of which are Docs, Miro, Figma, Trello, Figma and Phrase.

  • Do you use AI?

I do not personally use AI for my creative output, period.

I will not knowingly use AI to produce any professional output, such as copy, strategy, campaigns or correspondence. I intend to make all reasonable efforts to avoid interaction with AI where possible for the work I am paid to produce.

However, i's unlikely to stay unexposed to AI these days, and I will continue to work with clients and colleagues who choose to use AI for themselves. Where necessary, I will work with clients' tools that incorporate AI for the sake of efficiency (such as UI copy libraries), but will always hold my own judgement against any AI suggestions.

About Me

You can mostly find me at my desk, at the playground or on my bike among a group of very fit middle-aged men. My only pet is a wheat sourdough and I believe the best conversations happen while climbing a mountain path, on a picnic blanket during sunset or when baking pancakes with my 5-year-old (child, not sourdough).

During my career, I've worked as a copywriter, author, editor, managing editor, editor in chief, brand manager and campaign manager. That's more than 10 years of working in copy and content—not counting my elementary school story books (underestimated, if you ask me). I thrive in international work environments and know how to make working remotely feel less so.

I studied corporate communications in Vienna, lived in Sweden, Switzerland and the USA somewhere along the way, discovered my love for outdoors adventures in Berlin (of all the places, lol), and now live in Lübeck, 4 bike minutes away from the closest natural swimming spot.
